Angel Simoneau is an illustrator, book artist and workshop instructor. She lives and grew up in Maine and takes inspiration from Japanese contemporary illustrations and book artists around the world to create fun, colorful and adventurous works. She teaches currently at a before and after care program centered around art during the week. Upon proper scheduling, Angel also teaches workshops for K-12 to adults. She has taught workshops for Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Deer Isle, Maine and at University of Southern Maine.

Angel holds a BFA in Art Education with a Minor in Book Arts and Concentration in Drawing from University of Southern Maine. She works primarily with traditional mediums such as markers, watercolors, calligraphy pens and paper, but is exploring and learning digital art. Book making became prominent in her work when she took a Book Making Class at USM, and has been a huge inspiration in combining manga, illustration and her style with the artist book form. Accordions and Flag Books are her personal favorite formats to work with. Angel’s favorite life moments that inspire her work come from her travels to Japan, France and Taiwan; all which show a variety of cultural influence in her pieces whether from books or illustrations.

Angel’s fun-loving personality, sense of humor and dedication to teaching and creating are all a part of who she is as a person- but also who she is as an artist. Please feel free to contact her via email or this site for any further information, questions, and inquiries.
